Our Story

le joyau translates to “the jewel”—a name that reflects our core belief: that every woman is a precious jewel, and on a philosophical level, that every living being is a jewel of existence. Our mission is to celebrate this inherent value through natural elegance and tangible compassion.

My journey began with two equally strong passions: a lifelong love of interior design and a deep devotion to animal rescue.

As an avid decorator, I’ve always sought to create harmony through color, texture, and thoughtful, upscale detail. This artistry naturally extended to the materials we choose for our signature hair accessories. Forget mass-produced synthetics; our soul is anchored in the luxurious quality of nature.

Every chouchou (scrunchie) we create is a small masterpiece, utilizing the finest natural fibers:

  • The delicate smoothness of Mulberry Silk.

  • The rich texture of Real Silk Velvet.

  • The refined comfort of Merino, Highland, and Alpaca Wool.

We are dedicated to crafting accessories that are not only beautiful but are gentle on your hair and sourced with integrity—the very definition of natural chic.

But alongside this artistry is the engine that truly drives le joyau: my commitment to animal welfare. Through the years, I’ve rescued over 25 cats, 2 horses, and a dog, and I regularly support no-kill shelters because I simply can’t bear the thought of their suffering.

le joyau is the merging of these two loves. It’s a way to design sophistication for your everyday life while ensuring that what you wear reflects what you value. 5% of our profits go directly to the ASPCA, helping to rescue and protect animals in need.

I’m joined by a small team of women who share this vision. Together, we handcraft pieces that quietly do good in the world. With your purchase, you become part of this meaningful circle of beauty, compassion, and connection.

If you’ve rescued a pet or simply care about animal welfare, we’d love for you to be part of our story. Snap a photo wearing your le joyau chouchou (scrunchie) —especially if a furry companion is nearby—and share your commitment to animals. Email your photo and story to connect@lejoyaushop.com. We’ll feature your moment on our social accounts, helping to grow a circle of compassion that makes a real difference for abused and abandoned animals. The cherished faces of my current gaggle of rescued cats, featured throughout this page, are a daily reminder of why we do what we do.

Thank you for being here. You’re part of something meaningful.

With gratitude,
Lisa Marie
